What's not included

Accidents and crashes 

Road Service helps with vehicle breakdowns. If your car is damaged in an accident or crash, your insurance might be able to help.

Theft, vandalism or weather damage 

If you want coverage for stolen vehicles or damage caused by storms, floods or fire, you may want to consider an insurance product. Explore car insurance.

Major repairs and parts 

Our patrols fix many common issues on the roadside. Visit an RAA Approved Repairer instead for major repairs or spare parts. 

Assistance for other drivers of your car 

Road Service is linked to you, not your vehicle. You can book a call-out no matter what car you’re driving. If someone else is driving your car, they’ll need to have their own Road Service product.

    Things you should know

    • Service does not include assistance in lifting a person in or out of their mobility scooter.
    • Service in shopping centres and other buildings needs to be in an area that's suitable and practical for our patrols to attend, such as an outside entrance or a car park.

  • Can I get roadside assistance for an electric vehicle?

    All levels of RAA Road Service cover electric vehicles at no extra cost. This includes hybrids and full battery electric vehicles.

    Our patrols are trained to work with EVs at the roadside. They know what to look out for, so they can get EVs back on the road, just like petrol and diesel vehicles.

    If you’ve run out of charge, you can use your Road Service Towing Benefit to tow your EV to the nearest charging station. Refer to the Road Service Entitlements Guide for service limits.

     

  • What’s the difference between Road Service and car insurance?

    Car insurance and Road Service are separate products. Road service is available to support you with issues like flat tyres, flat batteries and mechanical problems. Road Service does not cover an Insurable Event and is not a substitute for car insurance.

    Motor vehicle insurance^ can be used when you damage someone else’s car or property. Depending on your level of cover, it can also be used for damage caused to your vehicle.

  • Does my Road Service cover other people driving my car?

    Your RAA Road Service product is linked to you, not your car. You can book a call-out no matter whose car you’re driving. 

    If someone else is driving your car, they’ll need their own Road Service product.

  • Can I use Road Service as soon as I’ve purchased it?

    When you use Road Service within 48 hours of purchasing, you’ll need to pay an extra service fee. The fee is $99 for existing RAA members or $129 if you aren’t a member.

If you’re towed to a charging station, you’ll need to provide your own charging cable and/or adaptor to charge your vehicle. We can’t supply charging cables or adaptors for electric vehicles, and any costs associated with charging the vehicle will be at your own expense.
